How We Care

After experiencing His touch, we could never happily remain within the safety of our church walls when a desperate world is longing to see His love in action. A grave problem for many generations has been the church’s failure to connect with society. Yet, building strong marriages, strong families, and a strong civilization has always been the responsibility of Christ’s disciples. Having been empowered by His Spirit and entrusted with unique gifts, who could better perform that task than His people? The groans and cries of a hurting population have forced us to break free from those foolish traditions.

Loving our fellowman must be demonstrated in practical ways. Sunday morning’s challenging messages must be activated on Monday and every other day of the week. Wherever we go—on the job, shopping at Wal-Mart, the movie theater, or dining at a favorite restaurant—opportunities are presented to practice evangelism. But to effectively connect with others, every believer must see themselves as a living, visible Jesus . . . with skin on. As His love shines through our eyes, our smile, and body language, the light of truth will illuminate this dark world

To a congregation of no more than 120 members, Jesus commanded that they preach the gospel to all the world. Not to the headquarters of a church denomination did He give this command, but to individuals. Our vision must be worldwide, rather than a local neighborhood. If we cannot go in person, we must support those who will. When global missions become a personal mandate, our combined efforts will easily touch the world!

Local Missions

God is richly blessing those ministries that reach outward into our community. If you want to be involved in what touches the heart of God . . . join the prison ministry . . . walk the streets passing out blankets and coats to the homeless . . . mentor a child referred by the court system or an at-risk student in a public school . . . attend a Friday night celebration that supports neighbors who are recovering from personal hurts, habits, and hang-ups. . . link up with an after school program where at-risk children are being taught the Word of God for the first time . . . extend your hands to serve the elderly and those in our area with long term illnesses, who just need someone to care . . . unite with leaders from other churches to earnestly pray for God’s divine favor, deliverance, and healing for Houston’s North Channel families . . . participate in a quarterly drive-thru Food Fair on our church property that distributes free food to hundreds of hungry families and then takes their prayer requests before a God who loves and cares for them.

Global Missions

For those who are unable to personally take the Gospel to other nations of the world, some wonderful options are available. On the first Sunday of each month, our church family brings their love gifts to support proven, trusted missionaries in India, Mexico, Guatemala, Romania, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Tanzania.

May we share what these folks are accomplishing with the dollars you contribute:

  • build Bible schools, vocational training schools, orphanages, and refugee home
  • feed hundreds of children daily
  • plant churches where none exist
  • agricultural assistance
  • medical mission teams in remote villages
  • publish and distribute literature and social welfare projects
  • mass evangelization of children in impoverished areas with Sidewalk Sunday Schools, clowns, games and puppets
  • rehabilitation center for drug addicts
  • vocational teaching programs for women
  • teach basic skills to poor minority children deprived of education past 3rd grade
  • spiritual guidance and leadership for over 900 congregations in Africa, United Kingdom, New Zealand, South America, West Indies, USA, and Australia
