Pastor Heard

I am so honored that you chose to look us up online! A pivotal event for any individual is the momentous decision of becoming a member of a local church. But even more exciting is the deep commitment of becoming part of the family.

Out of curiosity, may I ask a few probing questions. Have you been away for a while and felt it was time to return? Or perhaps you have just moved to Houston from a congregation in another city and you’re scouting out a new church home. Then again, this may be your very first encounter with any church. Whatever your story, we are just so glad you came to our website to inquire about Christian Tabernacle.

Now that my curiosity has been satisfied, I’m sure you have questions of your own. That’s exactly why the Visitor Center was created. In this area of our site, we strive to offer clear-cut answers to all your queries.

Several informative videos about our church culture and convictions have been produced especially for folks like you. In fact, these videos summarize what we consider to be our three primary functions:

How We Celebrate
Our greatest desire is to celebrate the Lord. A pastor once said, "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." When we gather corporately to sing, pray, and express our gratitude and devotion, His loving arms seem to enfold our spirits in a glorious embrace. (Watch the video, How We Celebrate.)

How We Connect
When we reach across the aisle to “touch” a person who may be lonely or hurting, it seems as though some God-given gift is suddenly activated. We want to share His love! And the most effective way is to connect with others in small group settings. In case you need some instruction, help is always available for developing skills to nurture and train every age, in every stage of growth. (Watch the video, How We Connect.)

How We Care
Finally, we must never forget those beyond our church walls. The most wonderful sense of satisfaction comes from touching a person who has never experienced the presence of God. Thus, our joy is complete in finding creative ways to share the Good News about Jesus, first in our own community, then our nation, and all over the world. (Watch the video, How We Care.)

These three summations offer just a glimpse of the heart and soul of Christian Tabernacle. Understanding who we are, why we exist, and how we function will help you decide whether or not to join our family. And should your decision be “yes,” we would be so pleased to visit with you in person. Online communication is good, but person-to-person interaction is the best way to form lasting friendships.

If you would like to become better acquainted with our church family, please contact us online, visit the Information Center after any worship service, or attend the Members Orientation. In the meantime, we trust that you will find a place to celebrate and grow in Christ in a congregation near you.

In Christ,

Dr. Richard Heard
Senior Pastor
